 According to Sahara reporters, the Access bank branch where Fani Kayode's wife was held for 8 hours has not been reopened on the orders of governor,Ayo Fayose.

Residential building gutted by fire in Lagos

A residential building on 15, Adefolu drive off Opebi Allen in Lagos state was gutted by fire around 4am today. Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority LASEMA were on hand to assist the officers of the Lagos state fire service to put off the fire.No life was lost in the incident. Man brutally beaten and stripped naked for allegedly snatching woman's handbag in Gwagwalada, Abuja

A man identified as one Daniel was yesterday, beaten and stripped naked for allegedly snatching a woman’s handbag at SDP Junction in Gwagwalada.

The middle-aged man reportedly followed the woman on a motorcycle after she withdrew money from a bank in the area. An eyewitness said the woman alighted and was about to pay the motorcyclist when the suspect snatched her handbag and fled. But some motorcyclists pursued and apprehended him.
"Some motorcyclists went after him, caught him and started beating him. They removed his clothes and left him on the ground." the eyewitness said.
The suspect was abandoned in the pool of his own blood, before some men of the civil defence corps and officials of the National Union of Road Transport Employees (NURTE) came to his aid, he added.

Man stabbed to death in Delta over girlfriend

 
 A twenty-five year-old man, Matthew Iyede, has been stabbed to death by three friends due to a disagreement over a ‘girlfriend’ at Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday morning at a popular bar, Blue Sea Restaurant and Bar, in Eku near Delta State University Abraka.

Eyewitnesses told Southern City News that the victim died as a result of the injuries he sustained on his chest after he was stabbed several times.

Father 'investigated' after 'dragging young daughter around supermarket by her hair

 Authorities are investigating alleged child abuse after a father was spotted dragging his young daughter around a supermarket by her hair.

According to the New York Daily News a  couple alerted police after they heard the little girl crying "Please stop. I promise I won't do it again. Please stop!"

Erika and Robert Burch say they saw a man dragging the child by her hair, which was wrapped around the top of his shopping trolley.

Man caught on CCTV drowning 3-year-old stepdaughter in pool jailed for 100 years

 A man who was caught on camera throwing his three-year-old stepdaughter into a swimming pool before leaving her to drown has been jailed for 100 years.

Harrowing CCTV footage shows the killer, identified only as Jose David N., repeatedly tossing the child into the water.The little girl - who could not swim - is seen struggling to stay afloat as her stepfather stands by and watches.

School- leaver rapes four-year-old girl in her brother’s presence

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Bassey Johnson, for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in the Idimu area of the state.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the school-leaver, who is also learning a trade, allegedly raped the girl, Fatima (pseudonym), when she and her elder brother went to watch a television in the suspect’s apartment.
The victim’s family and the suspect were said to be neighbours in the area.

A young lady, Ogechukwu Kate shared these photos on her Facebook page. The photos shows the young lady harvesting cassava and processing garri.
"Farming is really a tough but enjoyable work to do. I cant imagine myself buying 13 cups of garri 400 naira when i am physically and mentally fit to go to farm" she captioned the photos.
While most of the comments were positive, others were critical, with some describing her post as a publicity stunt and "husband hunting" strategy. More photos and comments after the cut.


Ahmad Rahami, 28, wanted in connection with the Manhattan bombing that injured 29 people

Authorities are urgently searching for a "person of interest" in the Manhattan, New York City explosion which left 29 people injured on Sunday. The suspect is identified as 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami, according to a memo circulated by the NYPD.


Abdulmumin Jibrin denies owning £1.3m in a UK based bank

Sacked Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has denied allegations that he operates an account with ING bank in the UK and has a balance of £1.3m in the account.

The allegation was leveled against him by the National Youth Council of Nigeria who in a statement by its Head of the Anti-corruption unit, Ifeanyi Okonkwo, said it has traced £1.558m which is about N825m, to an ING Bank in Essex, United Kingdom that is allegedly being operated Jibrin.

FG sues Agip, Total for $635m over undeclared cargoes

Cash strapped Nigeria’s Federal Government is demanding $635 million from two multinational oil companies, Agip and Total for undeclared crude oil shipped out of the country between 2011 and 2014.
Two cases have been filed at the Federal High court in Lagos by senior lawyer and Senior advocate of Nigeria, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, who had handled several cases for the Federal Government on aviation, defence, energy, and financial services, the Guardian reports.
Hearing will begin next week before Justice Olatoregun Isola.
And there are indications that Ajogwu will also be filing claims against other multinationals, such as Chevron and Exxon-Mobil

 A woman whose car was attacked by thieves who smashed its windows has reacted in a thoughtful way - posting a sign offering to help those who committed the act.

Sam De Sillery's car was targeted during a two-day spree  and the 28-year-old single mother, from Perth in Australia, wrote a large sign with marker pen and put it up outside her house.

A woman, Latifat Adeyemi, who was allegedly battered by her uncle-in-law, Rasak Alabi, at Aga, Ikorodu, has cried out for justice.Last Friday Alabi allegedly hit the victim with a spanner on her head and face.
In a telephone interview with a The Nation Correspondent, Adeyemi said her aunt’s husband attacked her at their 3, Ile-Ewe, Sholebo family residence at Aga, Ikorodu.The makeup artist explained that trouble started after she got home on Friday night and discovered that the Air Conditioner in her room has been removed.She said 


Kidnappers demand N900m to release Isheri landlords

Kidnappers of three landlords at Oshorun Heritage Estate in Isheri, Lagos State, have demanded N900 million to release them.
Gunmen clad in military camouflages on Saturday morning stormed Channels Avenue, whisking away Kennedy Ucheagwu, Dr. Omololu Bello and Mr. Esang, who were on their routine exercise.
A resident, told The Nation that the kidnappers contacted the family of one of the victims to demand the ransom.


Graduate impersonates Bishop Kukah, defrauds Oyedepo, Dantata, others

 
A graduate of Political Science, Jehu Kwasu, has narrated how he impersonated the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah and defrauded prominent Nigerians of millions of naira.
Kwasu said his victims included Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide, who he claimed gave him N500,000; the Chairman, Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko, N1m; Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, N500,000; businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, N2m.
He allegedly collected the sums for Internally Displaced Persons.He said, 
“I collected N500,000 from Otudeko, CEO, Honeywell: From Admiral Kanu, I got N500,000. I also got N500,000 from Bishop Oyedepo and N2m from Dantata. I also got money from Gen. Wushishi and others.
“I opened a Guaranty Trust Bank account in Bishop Kukah’s name. I registered a SIM card in my name, but used Bishop Kukah’s picture on my True Caller account, so that when I call, his picture would appear (on the recipient’s phone.)”
