A new technology that will enable you charge your
phone from empty to full battery in 30 secs has been developed by
StoreDot, an Israeli company.
Dr. Doron Myersdorf,
from StoreDot, demonstrated the nano-technology based device during a
live presentation on a BBC programs and it took exactly 30 seconds to
charge from a depleted 25% state to full battery.
"This
is a technology that was specially designed for mobile phones. Our
target is the problem that everyone is having that it just takes too
long to charge," Doron told the BBC.
Dr. Doron
responded to questions about the durability of the 'flash-charged'
battery and how StoreDot hopes to attain the energy density level
required for the technology to work effectively.
"This [battery] will last for about 2 to 3 hours of normal operation."
He said work is still ongoing on the device which is still only a laboratory prototype.
"This
is the first step. It is a major breakthrough for us to be able to
integrate into the phone a battery that charges in 30 secs,” he says.
