MTN Project Fame West Africa 7.0 has been ten weeks of hard-work,
dedication and pulsating performances which climaxed with the Grand
Finale. Nights like this have birthed the likes of Iyanya, Mike,
Chidinma, Monica, Ayoola and Olawale.
After auditioning thousands of hopefuls across major West African
cities, the competition began with sixteen talented contestants who gave
their all to make a mark. For the finalists who were tagged “Exceptional Eight”, it can be said that they came, saw and conquered as it was no easy feat to be the last eight standing.
The night had great entertainment lined up for everyone as the “Exceptional 8” opened the show with a beautiful remix of the ‘Winners Song – I’m a Winner’, written for them by none other than the master-writer and producer himself, Cobhams Asuquo.
This season recorded quite a number of landmarks, worthy of note
are: 8 Exceptional contestants made it to the finals, the highest number
of finalists ever recorded in the history of the competition. Kofo and Shola
(who were eliminated during the course of the competition) were quick
to put to use all they had learnt in the Academy as they each released
singles even before the end of the competition. These Songs “Dem Boiz”
and “I love Naija” are currently enjoying massive airplay. Also, this
time, Ghana proudly produced two finalists.
The night witnessed a massive influx of the crème-de-la-crème of
our society. Ranging from Commissioners, Captains of industries, to big
shots from the telecommunication giant – MTN, Nollywood industry, to
mention a few. As the evening progressed; the “Exceptional eight” took
to stage performing for the very last time this season and they each
gave sizzling medleys of their personal compositions and their fans’
season’s best.
Afterwards, Kaffy and her Imagneto Dance Company as always rocked the stage again giving an out of this world ‘Roman – themed’ performance which will left everyone asking for more.
Amidst the frenzy of the evening, the Judges took time to commend
and encourage each of the contestants, reiterating that this platform is
a jumpstart to a great music career. The contestants enjoyed a deep
‘motherly’ blessing from members of the Faculty as they took turns to
bless these exceptional eight from the depth of their hearts.
Moving on into the business of the evening, Daniella and Debbie unfortunately had to step down as they turned out to have the lowest number of votes amongst the eight.
To round off the show; Legendary Sir Shina Peters took centre stage with his Afro-juju beats
which had everyone grooving. This seemingly doused the tension in the
air a little but quickly, the time came to announce the winners
according to viewers’ votes and the following contestants emerged
winners leaving out Emeka and Ugo
as fifth and sixth runners up, who would be rewarded adequately for a
job with a sum of One Million Naira and Half a Million Naira
respectively.
Clement - Third runner-up winning Two Million Naira Only.
Christian came up as the Second runner-up walking away with Two Million Naira Only and a brand new saloon car.
Ruky (the last girl standing) was announced as the First runner-up bagging Three Million Naira and a brand new saloon car.
Geoffrey Oji
eventually emerged the crowned Winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa
7.0 carting away a whooping sum of Five Million Naira, a brand new,
fully loaded SUV and a recording contract worth millions of Naira.
There is no doubt that this season’s contestants will not be
forgotten in a hurry in the history of MTN Project Fame West Africa.
