Indigenous people armed with bows, arrows & charms clashed with
police in Brazil's capital,Brasilia,outside the Mane Garrincha National
Stadium ,two weeks before the World Cup begins.They are protesting the
hosting of the world cup by Brazil because they feel it will cost too
much for a developing nation.They say the billions spent could be used
to better the lives of the poor.
They were further infuriated after learning the Brasilia's stadium will
cost 1.9 billion reais (£500million),triple the amount earlier
earmarked .The protests forced the government to cancel the exhibition
of the World Cup trophy.
Some fired arrows at the mounted police who retaliated with tear gas but did not use guns..
