I spent 9 years in the University -AY

Comedian AY told Punch about his educational struggle and how he overcame it...
I don’t like talking about this. But, yes, I spent nine years in the university but not as a failure as some people may assume. But I had to set my priorities right. It was tough I had to joggle so many jobs to make ends meet. I also had to cater to my siblings and I was a victim of different circumstances on campus.”
On why he hasn't joined politics
“You do not put your hand in the mouth of a lion because you see your colleagues doing the same. Those who have indicated interest in vying for political positions must have weighed the pros and cons before deciding to do so. I have also weighed the pros and cons and my ministry has not moved to that site yet,

How I gave up my name to Basket Mouth" -MC Miracle '(Old Basket Mouth)

Comedian Ernest Essien originally known as Basket mouth has opened up to Vanguard on how he let Bright Okpocha, now famous as ‘Basketmouth keep the name’.Ernest said he was bearing the name but had to change his to MC Miracle to avoid clash of identity.....
No, he didn’t steal the name. Sometime in 2000-2001, Basketmouth approached me during one of the Plantashun Boiz’s concert at D Den on Isaac John in Ikeja and he introduced himself to me as ‘Basketmouth’ and told me he heard I was also using the name. I was already an established entertainer then so what I saw was a younger brother from Benin with hunger for success in his eyes. There and then, I asked him if he liked the name and his response was in the affirmative. I told him to keep the name so I changed mine. Most of my friends including my wife did not approve of this. They said I sold my birthright to him. Till date, some of my colleagues still call me MC
Did the change in name affect you?

Comedian AY Spends Much More Than $300M on His Nightclub

Comedian, AY says his Nightclub, MVP, is worth a lot more than N300million
Standup comedian Ayo Richerd Makun (also known as AY) is almost angry with journalists because they are estimating his new club as 'just 300 million'.
Comedian AY says he’s setting up one of the largest clubbing facilities in this part of world, with enormous cost implications.
His new club is named MVP and located in Lekki, in Lagos.
He said: "The aforementioned amount might turn out to be an understatement when you come to MVP to see what we are putting in place in Lekki, Lagos. We are having a world class and premium Restaurant Nightclub Lounge."
When pressed on the exact figure, he went further to say, "You might want to interview the accountant of MVP and the contractors in charge of different aspects of the project to get an exact figure."
Check out photos of the Nightclub below…

Basketmouth's 'Uncensored' 2014 UK Tour Is Mega Success

Basketmouth's 'Uncensored' 2014 UK Tour Is Mega Success
Basketmouth embarked on his ‘Uncensored’ 2014 tour from Port Harcourt and landed in the U.K over the Valentine weekend.
The Nigerian Ace comedian visits 4 cities: Aberdeen, Manchester, Birmingham and, finally, London at the Indigo O2 Arena.
Tickets to the show were sold out a week before the concert date and even after launching standing tickets, they sold out in hours! The concert has gone down as the 1st African comedy or music show to be sold out completely in London.
Interestingly the ad campaign promoted Basketmouth as the only performing artist for the night (which many feared may affect turn out being that most shows are known to feature top music acts alongside comedy), but this was set-up as the traditional one-man stand up gig. He held the crowd down with a straight set of 2 hours, all brand new material.
The similar show can be seen in Lagos on May 4, 2014, at the Eko Hotel & suites Convention Centre.

Desperate Nigerian Comedians Accuse Ghanaian Politicians Of Stealing Their Jobs!

Photo: Nigerian comedians accuse Ghanaian politicians of being funnier that them
The Association of Nigerian Comedians has issued a statement accusing Ghanaian politicians of trying to put them out of business.
Nigerian comedians who have hitherto dominated the Ghanaian comedy scene are suddenly facing stiff competition from these politicians. The comedians argue that Ghanaian politicians are becoming hysterically funny making it difficult for them to sell their shows.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, the president of the association said,
“We have reason to believe there is a conspiracy by Ghanaian politicians to put us out of business and eventually expel us from this country, like we did to our Ghanaian brothers in ’83.
“We used to be the kings of comedy here. When we spoke with this Naija accent, Ghanaians will be on the floor creasing up. These days when we tell our jokes they stare at us like we’ve just delivered a message from the grim reaper.”
He contended that the fall in patronage for their shows was because Ghanaian politicians are doing a better job at entertaining Ghanaians.
