Ewedu soup can cure Ebola-LUTH Consultant

When Ebola found its way to Nigeria, there were claims that bitter kola could cure those infected, then another viral rumour asked people to drink and bath with salt water. Both claims were classified untrue by the Ministry of Health. Now, a Luth consultant claims Ewedu cures Ebola.

According to PMnews Prof Adebukola Adefule Oshitelu, a professor of Ophthalmology from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), is claiming that the plant ‘Genus Corchorus’ found in Ewedu soup, has the unique ability of curing the feared Ebola Virus Disease.
She said this at the 2014 African Traditional Medicine organised by NAFDAC  at Ikeja, Lagos state.
According to Oshitelu,

“The qualities inside Ewedu is so much that it will kill Ebola by preventing the virus from replicating and destroying more organs in the body. This would immediately stop the symptoms such as high fever, stooling and vomiting. Ultimately, leading to the cure,”
“The way it will be prepared will be different from the normal way they cook it. It should be washed and rinsed with liquid vinegar, afterwards blend and cook with drinkable water. No salt, potash or seasoning should be added, take 25cl of the concoction a week and it would boost a person’s immunity so that they become impregnable to the virus,”
However, In a statement made by the Director General of NAFDAC, Paul Orhii who was represented by the Director of Laboratory Service, Stella Denloye, NAFDAC said it has banned illegal advertisement of herbal products and bogus claims of cure for diseases.
“Unpatriotic Nigerians who continue to engage in illegal advert of their products and those making false claims not evaluated by NAFDAC should desist from acts misleading the unsuspecting public. I want to warn and inform them that NAFDAC would deal decisively with anyone found to contravene,”

Ebola Confirmed In Port Harcourt – 1 Dead, 2 Infected And 70 Under Surveillance

It was reported yesterday that a patient suspected to be infected with the dreaded Ebola virus has died in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. And despite denials by Rivers state health commissioner, Sampson Parker at a press conference yesterday, who insisted that Ebola did not kill the victim, but fever and diarrhoea, new reports contradict him.

Nigeria’s Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu confirmed that the dead man was a PH doctor named Ikye Enemoah, and he died on Friday Aug. 22nd after treating a diplomat who had direct contact with Patrick Sawyer. He said laboratory analysis on his corpse showed he died from Ebola.

“Following the report of his death by the doctor’s widow the next day, the case had been thoroughly investigated and laboratory analysis showed that this doctor died from EVD (Ebola Virus Disease).”

Family denies late Dr Adadevoh’s younger sister tested positive for Ebola

The Adadevoh family has denied reports that the younger sister of late Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh (pictured above) who died of the Ebola virus, has tested positive to Ebola and has been hospitalized.

Despite sources insisting that Amy Ngozi Adadevoh tested positive and has been moved to the isolation treatment centre in Lagos, the family says this is not true.

This information is 100% incorrect. As I am sure you are aware, positive Ebola cases are announced by the Minister of Health. You can check with the official list from the Health Ministry. Amy got a clean bill of health yesterday after her EVD test result came back negative. She left the hospital much earlier in the day and is now home thanking God. The Adadevoh family is well known and very popular and this misinformation is causing a lot of extra grief.” A family source told LIB.
